China manufactures most of the world's electric blankets, heated throws and mattress pads. Done right, sourcing from China gives you quality products at competitive prices. Done wrong, it costs you time, money and reputation. Use this checklist to source with confidence.

1. Vet the supplier first

  • Request business registration and export qualifications.
  • Ask for factory photos or a video tour — real production lines, not stock images.
  • Check their track record with similar products and markets.
  • Look for a verified storefront and trade assurance where applicable.

2. Confirm certifications for your market

Electric heating products are regulated in most destination markets. Clarify which certifications apply to your target market — CE and RoHS for the EU, UL/ETL and FCC for the US, GS for Germany, and so on — and confirm who holds the test reports. Our safety standards guide explains what each mark covers.

3. Define the specification clearly

  • Size, fabric, fill material and wattage.
  • Voltage and plug type for your market (100–240 V options).
  • Controller features: heat levels, timer, dual-zone, auto shut-off.
  • Branding: labels, packaging, manuals in your language.

4. Order samples before bulk

Always test a working sample under your market's conditions. Check heat-up time, temperature consistency, controller behavior and fabric quality. Ask for a sample inspection report and confirm the sample matches the final production standard.

5. Agree on MOQ, lead time and QC

  • MOQ: confirm per model; trial batches may be available.
  • Lead time: samples, bulk production and transit times in writing.
  • QC: agree on inspection points — incoming materials, during production, and final random inspection (AQL).
  • Documentation: packing list, commercial invoice, certificates and test reports.

6. Shipping and terms

Decide between FOB, CIF or door-to-door terms, and factor in sea freight timelines for large volumes. For seasonal products like heated blankets, order early — production slots fill before winter. This is one of the most common mistakes first-time importers make.

7. Work with one accountable partner

Consolidating your line — blankets, throws, mattress pads and pads — with a single partner reduces certification and logistics overhead. At Haiyue Shengda, we support OEM/ODM from specification to shipment. Explore our OEM/ODM services or request a sample to start.
